The logo design brief

After you have agreed to work with me, we will begin to create a design brief for the logo. This can be done in person or via phone or email. This stage is an information gathering exercise, by us meeting and noting down the specifics or yourself filling out my logo design questionnaire, which is available by email or in person which helps me find what you want from your logo.
Research

After creating the design brief, I need to learn about your business by using various research methods, which includes general reading on your company’s market and on your competitors, as well as your company’s history and the specific audience you are targeting with your business.
Visual research
![]()

This is where I seek visual clues on the best way forward using the research I have gathered, I often look at similar companies approach to their logo and see what is and is not working. I often collect various media and compare them together until I have enough information so I can begin…
Conceptualizing
![]()

This is where the research and visual research comes together. Using creative work-flows such as mind-mapping and sketching I start to begin to draw up ideas, concepts, colours, shapes and styles and refine them using computer software to give you finished concepts and ideas.
Presentation

From these final concepts I supply, you have time to give input and make decisions on how to move forward with the design of the logo by communicating and analyzing how we can refine them to the end product.
I will advise you at all times with my professional opinion as a designer and how I feel the concept would fit best with your business. I will also supply you with a mock-up of how your logo will look on a business card, website or other real world example so you can see the logos uses in a variety of situations.
